Cobb County Jail Roster Overview
The Cobb County Sheriff's Office runs the Adult Detention Center on County Services Parkway in Marietta. The Sheriff also runs the public inmate inquiry tool used to search the Cobb County jail roster. Search results pull from the same live jail management system the deputies use at intake. Results update as the booking desk works. The roster covers pretrial detainees and sentenced inmates held in the local jail. The Sheriff's Adult Detention Center page outlines what the facility does and how custody works.
The county roster is local only. It does not cover state prison cases or federal cases. For state prison inmates, use the Georgia Department of Corrections offender search. For federal cases, use the Bureau of Prisons. The county jail also does not list every past arrest. Old bookings can fall off the live roster after release. A custody check that returns nothing does not always mean the person was never booked. It can mean the person was released, moved, or never held in this jail. To learn the source page that hosts the Cobb County inmate search portal, see the official ADC page from the Sheriff.

How to Use the Cobb County Inmate Roster
The Sheriff publishes a free name and SOID search. The tool is at the Sheriff's inmate inquiry page. A few short steps cover most lookups. The flow is the same for a name search or a Sheriff's ID search.
- Open the Cobb Sheriff inmate inquiry page in a browser.
- Pick a search type. Use SOID if the Sheriff's Office ID is known. Use NAME if not. Names go in last-name space first-name format.
- Pick a Query mode. Use "In Custody" for someone the Sheriff likely still holds. Use "Inquiry" for a wider sweep. The Sheriff warns that Inquiry runs much slower.
- Press Search. Review the result grid. Each row shows name, DOB year, race, sex, location, SOID, and days in custody.
- Click Last Known Booking on a row to open the full booking detail. Use Previous Bookings if it shows up to see older holds.
- Use Reset to clear the form for a fresh Cobb County inmate search.
A live look at the search page itself is shown below. The image comes from the Sheriff's official inmate inquiry portal.

The same form is used for In Custody and Inquiry searches across the Cobb County jail roster.
Sheriff Inmate Inquiry Portal Field Reference
The Cobb County inmate search form is small. Four input controls cover the whole search. SOID is the best field if it is known. Names are accepted in a strict format. A drop-down picks the query mode. The full field table is below.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| SOID | Text | Optional | Sheriff's Office Identification number. Digits and separators allowed. Using SOID speeds up the search. |
| NAME | Text | Optional | Format is Last Name SPACE First Name. Letters and spaces allowed. A percent sign is accepted by the form's validation as a wildcard. |
| Serial | Text | Optional | Numeric serial number tied to a booking record. |
| Query | Dropdown | Yes | Two options: In Custody (for current holds) and Inquiry (broader search; runs slower). |
| Reset | Button | n/a | "Press to Reset Fields to Nothing." Clears the form. |
| Search | Button | n/a | "Press to Submit Inmate Inquiry." Runs the query. |
Results return a small table per match. The columns are Image (blank, since the Sheriff stopped posting booking photos), Name, DOB year, Race, Sex, Location, SOID, Days in Custody, plus Last Known Booking and Previous Bookings buttons. The Image column stays blank under Georgia law. The Sheriff cites O.C.G.A. ยง 35-1-19 as the reason booking photos are no longer posted online. Note: All listed people are presumed innocent until proven guilty, and the data is supplied without warranty.
What a Cobb County Booking Record Shows
Clicking Last Known Booking opens a full Arrest and Booking Report for that person. The report is long. It is grouped into clear sections. Each block answers a different question about the case. The full field inventory below is taken from a live booking detail page on the Sheriff's site. A sample of the booking-detail layout is shown on the Sheriff booking detail sample page, captured below.

The admissions feed above is reached from the Sheriff admissions report page. It is a good way to spot recent intakes during a Cobb County jail roster check.

Cobb Adult Detention Center Overview
The Cobb County Jail Complex sits on County Services Parkway in Marietta. It is the main jail for the county. The Sheriff describes the complex as roughly one million square feet under roof, split across Building A, Building B, and C Tower. Total official bed capacity for the three towers is 3,077. The complex serves as a pretrial facility and also holds sentenced inmates. A short history of how the complex grew is on the Sheriff's jail history page.
The Sheriff's jail history page tracks how Cobb moved from a 128-bed downtown tower to the modern jail. The image below comes from that page.

That history shows why Cobb spent on the modern jail. Each tower has its own build date. Building A opened in 1987 at $13.5 million. Building B added expansion space in 1997 at $39.2 million. C Tower opened in 2010 at $110 million through a special sales tax. The Detention Division also runs the Work Deployment Facility and an Annex. The jail handles intake, classification, medical care, food service, the commissary, the library, work release, and the safe custody of pretrial and sentenced inmates.

Booking, First Appearance, and Bond
An arrest is the first event in a Cobb County booking. The arresting officer brings the person to the jail's intake area. The booking team takes prints, photos, basic medical screening, and personal property. The booking record is built during that intake. The booking report stores the arrest time, the booking start time, and the booking complete time. Those three times let the public follow the arrest-to-jail clock on the live booking detail.
After intake, most inmates are seen by a Cobb County Magistrate judge at first appearance. That hearing is required by Georgia law within a set window. The judge tells the inmate the charges. The judge sets bond when allowed. Some felonies cannot be bonded by a Magistrate and must wait for Superior Court. When bond is set, the inmate or a friend can post bond through cash, a surety bond, or other approved means. The bond and any statutory add-on fees appear on the booking detail.
The Sheriff also tracks an attorney field on the report. If a defendant has hired counsel or been assigned a public defender, the name shows up there. If not, the report shows "No Attorney of Record on file." For Cobb cases the Circuit Public Defender at 32 Waddell Street, Marietta, takes most indigent felony and misdemeanor work.
Visitation Hours and Rules
Cobb runs all public inmate visits as video conferences. In-person contact visits are not the default. Public visitors sign up first, then schedule. Registration is done online at GTL Visit Me or at a self-serve kiosk inside the Visitation Center. Visitors must show a valid government photo ID at the Visitation Center between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. to finish the sign-up. Visitors should arrive at least 15 minutes before the first visit. Visitors 18 and older are photographed for the record. Detailed rules are posted on the Sheriff's Adult Detention Center inmate page.
| Day | Hours | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. | Video visit |
| Tuesday | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. | Video visit |
| Wednesday | No public visits (per posted modified rules) | Closed to public visits |
| Thursday | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. | Video visit |
| Friday | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. | Video visit |
| Saturday | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. | Video visit |
| Sunday | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. | Video visit |
Each visit is 30 minutes. One visit per inmate per week is the posted rule. Visits can be scheduled 1 day to 7 days ahead. Late check-in is allowed up to 15 minutes past the hour, but the visit is not extended. More than 15 minutes late forfeits the slot. Visitors 17 and under must come with an adult. Dress code rules apply: no tank tops, halter tops, see-through clothing, bare midriffs, or spaghetti straps; shorts and skirts must be no more than 2 inches above the knee; shoes are required. Cell phones, food, drinks, and other prohibited items are not allowed in the visitation area. The full facility is tobacco-free. Professional visits for attorneys, clergy, and bondsmen have no frequency cap, but audio and video recording inside the jail are not allowed.
Mail and Email to Inmates
Cobb uses two different mailing addresses. One handles regular personal mail. The other handles legal mail and books. The split exists because personal mail is screened by an outside vendor before it reaches the jail.
Personal mail goes to: Cobb County Sheriff's Office, Georgia, Inmate's Name and SOID#, PO Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131. Greeting cards and photos are allowed. Polaroids are not. Anything offensive, sexually explicit, or marked as a security risk is returned. Legal mail and books go to: Cobb County Adult Detention Center, Inmate's full name and SOID #, PO Box 100110, Marietta, GA 30061. Books and magazines must come straight from the publisher or from an online seller like Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Hardbound books are not accepted. Civilian court clothing can be left at the judicial complex only if a judge orders the inmate dressed for court.
Note: Always put the inmate's full legal name and SOID on every piece of mail. Without the SOID, jail staff can struggle to route mail in a facility this size.
Inmate Phone System
The Cobb jail uses Global Tel Link, or GTL, for inmate phones. Inmates cannot receive incoming calls. Inmates may place calls each day at set times unless their housing or status restricts that. Calls are collect, or paid from a prepaid account. The posted GTL rate is $0.12 per minute.
To set up a prepaid account, friends and family can call GTL AdvancePay at 800-483-8314. GTL Billing Customer Service is 877-650-4249. For jail-side phone help, the Inmate Telephone Coordinator is at 770-528-8975, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. After hours, callers can ask the main switchboard for a supervisor at 770-499-4200. Phone access is a privilege, not a right, and the Sheriff can restrict it for safety or discipline.
Inmate Commissary and Money Deposits
Inmate accounts pay for commissary, phone time, and other in-jail costs. Cobb takes deposits four ways. Pick whichever works best. Mail in a U.S. Postal Money Order made out to the inmate's account. The Sheriff says do not mail cash. Cash deposits can be made in person at the facility daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Phone deposits go through GTL at 888-988-4768; the caller may need Site ID 153 and the inmate ID number. Online deposits use www.ConnectNetwork.com. On-site GTL kiosks at the jail take cash and credit card deposits.
Withdrawals are allowed once each month with the inmate's consent. The recipient picks up the funds on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Visitor's Center, 1877 County Services Parkway, Marietta, GA 30008. Bring photo ID. Keep receipts for any deposit, since vendor fees may apply on top of the deposit amount.
Bonding Out of the Cobb Jail
Bond is set by a judge. The booking detail shows the bond per charge and the total amount due. The total adds statutory fees on top of the base bond. Cash bond can be posted at the jail. A licensed bondsman can post a surety bond. Property bonds and signature bonds happen in court, not at the jail counter.
For bond questions, call the main switchboard at 770-499-4200. The Sheriff routes bonding calls through that number day and night. For warrant questions tied to a bond, see Cobb County warrant records. For the case number behind the charge, see Cobb County court records. If the case is at first appearance or set for Magistrate review, see Cobb County Magistrate Court.
Direct contact details for the Sheriff appear on the Sheriff contact directory, shown below.

That same contact directory lists Inmate Visitation at 770-499-4359, Record Checks at 770-499-4230, Records and ID at 770-499-4231, Warrant Information at 770-499-4634, and the Medical Unit at 678-355-7079.
How Long Records Stay on the Roster
The live roster shows current and recent custody. Older bookings can drop off the In Custody view after release. The Inquiry mode can still pull historic hits, but the Sheriff warns it runs slower. The booking detail for a released inmate still shows the release date, the releasing officer, and the released-to field. If a search for a known person returns "no records found," try the Inquiry mode with just the last name, or use a wildcard percent sign with the first letter of the first name.
Court files outlast jail files. After the bond is posted and the inmate leaves the jail, the case keeps moving in court. To follow that case, switch to the court record systems and use the case number from the booking report. For underlying charges and dispositions, see Cobb County criminal records. For broader jail population context, see Cobb County inmate population. For recent releases, see Cobb County released inmates.
